2nd Annual Glamis Poker Run
Success, Success, Success,,,
We are pleased to donate to the California Off Road Vehicle Association,
American Sand Association and the San Diego Off Road Coalition each a
check in the amount of $4,000.00 Each organization also received new memberships,
donations and sold their merchandise helping to raise the over $14,000.00
dollars combined from this one day event. Our club, the R&R
Duners, had a very fun time with this event and plan to make this
our annual fund raising project to benefit the off road organizations
we belong to "SAVE OUR DUNES!"
Many learned of the issues at the dunes from the checkpoint themes we had
at each of the 5 locations. The themes covered, Threatened plants, Safety
issues, Rules and Regulations, Trash concerns and the Safety Mascot the
"Safety Bug". Not only did the 658 participants and passengers learn but so
did others who came by to see what was going on. We had signs posted and
large orange helium balloons above each checkpoints EZ-up shelter.
Over 90% of the participants picked up trash along their way. Each was
awarded another draw of the cards for trash turned in and deposited in the
dumpsters located at the Glamis Flats checkpoint.
Thanks to the members of SDORC that helped with the 50/50 raffle that took
in a total of $1024.00.
The raffle was bigger and better than last year, with over 70 businesses
donating raffle prizes and gift certificates. Each participant received only
3 raffle tickets as to give everyone a good chance. We also gave out prizes
for lower poker hands.

R&R Duners Club
GLAMISPOKERRUN@AOL.COM
The R&R
Duners Club is a group of twenty-four families and friends located
mostly in Southern California that love to recreate at the ISDRA in the
winter months. Club members represent the majority of people that visit
the dunes, the families. We value our time spent having fun and making
long lasting memories together. All of our members consider themselves
to be environmentalists and it shows in how we teach our children (40
+ of them) to respect the land they live and play on.
